5 Traits Event Organizers Want From Speakers

November 16, 2010

In their own words ‘ SlideShare is a business media site for sharing presentations, documents and pdfs. SlideShare features a vibrant professional community that regularly comments, favorites and downloads content.’

Some time last month the Slide Share team shared some thoughts on Traits that event organisers want from speakers and as an event manager these tips hit issues that rankle right on the head.

I’ve been meaning for some time to create a list of my own but the Slide Share post from their blog is so on the money I decided just to link to the original article instead with a preview of the content via the first tip only.

TIP No. ONE

Understand the event’s community – get to know your audience ahead of the event. Spend some time with them (online or in person), and make sure you’re current with the most relevant topics of discussion or debate. This will also help if you choose to have a Question and Answer session. Find out who the other speakers are, and publicly reach out to them. This will help build momentum and camaraderie in advance of the event, itself.
